Whats a Fair price to charge for this ?

Welcome to the forum. This isn't an electrical question as such so I've moved this to the Business section for you.

I think you'll struggle to get answers in open forum about people's charging structure but travelling time is something that could be used elsewhere, you have to do it to get to work and the van uses fuel etc so someone has to pay for that.
In your position I would take the amount you need to earn in a day to cover all overheads and give you an income. and divide it by the number of hours you're able to work. That will give you your chargeout rate, multiply that by the number of hours you expect a job to take and add this to the material cost.
As if by magic you'll have the cost to your client :)
Be sensible about it, anyone can be a busy fool.

It'll probably cost you about £120 per week to cover your overheads, if not more. So if you work 37.5 hours you need about £3.75 per hour to cover your costs but you won't be working 52 weeks per year so use 44 weeks. Then you need to allow for class 2 & 4 NI and tax, then you need to earn an income.

So at £18.75 per hour you may get £15.00 before tax and NI and saving for your pension

I'm not sure what area you cover but the average day rate for a sparky round here is about £200 per day or £25+per hour, £40-65 call out

South east area

At £150 per day I would rather work for someone else

welchyboy's got it about right. as for travel, i don't bother if its under 10 miles each way, but after that it's £1/mile.

the £1/mile i get from 40p/mile van cost and assuming average speed of 30mph, 60p/mile give £18/hour wages. regular clients i charge less.
