Currently working cards in for a company and normally try to steer clear of any private work. Ive done the odd bit for family and friends just small non notifiable stuff. Now I've been asked to do a kitchen rewire and given the current economic climate and all ive thought balls to it I'm going to do this family to support bills to pay etc etc. I'm goin to make sure it's notified and a full test will be issued on completion ( I have my 2391 ). My issue is price which I've given at £650 for materials and labour. Just wondering if people feel this is to low/high. Current bonding is up to scratch and fuse board has RCD protection. I will be wiring a new ring main, and a new cooker circuit. Ring main will include 3 x double sockets and 6 way switch bank consisting off 3 x fused connection units and 3 x 20a double pole switches, switching 3 x single socket outlets for integrated appliances. I will be doing all chases myself, customer to put right and floor boards will have to come up and furniture needs to be moved. Its an old terraced house so mains at front of house and kitchen is single story at rear of property.

Didnt mention its for my sisters in laws, so not immediate family but I have a lot to do with them and my brother in law is going to help with the floorboards and moving furniture.

Tell me about it! The grief if I don't do it just isn't worth it though. I had it dropped on me yesterday they got a plasterer booked in for Wednesday! No weekend for me!

Working for your family for money, I would ask them to get 3 different quotes and then come to a compromise on the price from them, then you cant get accused of ripping them off when you ask for the money at the end lol.

How???

If you inform LABC correctly that could be £250 extra.

as i haven't kept up with the news lately are they going to let you sign other peoples work off for definate?

Too cheap buddy, also check out the minimum requirements for twin socket outlets in a kitchen re-wire..6,8 or 10 depending on size of room...

The kitchen is tiny (dont know exact size) barely enough room to fit my two double socket outlets and switch bank for the appliances above the work top. Baring in mind fridge/freezer, dishwasher and extract hood will all be controlled from the switch bank I thought 3 doubles would be plenty. One of the doubles is going low level by the back door and the other two as mentioned above the only bit of work top they can. Tried to price it based on my current rate at work. I think I can have the first fix done over the weekend then go back to second fix and test on a third visit.
