New member needs advice

Hi all,
My names john and im 27, im new to all these forums and threads and i don't know if this post is in the right place so i apoligise if so. I was made redundant last april and started a course to gain a trade as an electrician. Iv passed my domestic installer course and now doing my 17th edition which will then take me on to my 2392 and 2391. But now finding it hard to find work as a mate or improver to gain more experience. Iv done the odd day here or there but just not enough. I am currently working just to tie me over but want to get stuck in ad learn more as soon as poss...
I live in newport south wales and willing to travel any advice would be a big help...
