I'm currently studying for my 2391 and I have come across a question in my revision that I'm not sure about... Could anybody inform me whether if you were to do a periodic inspection of a property, but as part of the work you also did some other work i.e a new circuit. Would you have to also issue a Electrical installation cert as well as a periodic inspection report or would the PIR be enough?

no, the PIR covers the inspection and test of the existing installation. as said before, any installation work you do has to be covered by an installation certificate

Each PIR or EIC that you issue is only valid/complete when accompanied by a schedule of inspections and a schedule of test results.

If you are issuing an EIC and a PIR on the same installation then you will complete the above for EACH document.

This is a popular 2391-10 question, often phrased as 'how many documents would be issued?'

The answer is 6 (A Periodic Inspection Report, an Electrical Installation Certificate, 2X schedules of inspections and 2X schedules of test results.)

The only thing to beware of is if the question in the exam changes the "extra work" to something that qualified for an MIEWC, and not an EIC (as above), then it would be 4.
