Hi all, just a quick one.

Situation: Currently wiring a small cattle shed and in the specification are 2 florescent lights controlded via photocell (as the cows require a small amount of lighting at night.)

My question is, does the Photocell need to be isolated by the switch? or should the switch be controling the switched output from the photocell? Having it the latter way round would mean that the photocell would be permamently Live even with the switch off.

Thanks in advance.

Photo-cells are monitoring devices and require permanent power to do this but there wouldn,t be a problem with fitting a key switch so it can be turned off if not needed.

Indeed.

A local point of isolation should ideally be fitted although if these fittings are on their own dedicated circuit then the MCB or fuse could be regarded as that.

However, fitting maybe a 20A double switch prior to the cell would achieve the same result.
