I've read in some threads on this forum that most of us have or have had problems with plumbers.
In my experience they tend to try to dominate jobs by spreading their tools and fittings all over the place so no-one else can get in to work. They follow NO logical pattern when installing pumps or pipework only that it is the easiest place for them to put it.
They tend to have NO regard for other and believe themselves to be the Elite of tradesmen with All others bowing down before them.
For decades this All Powerful, All Knowing Self Important attitude has caused animosity against them from most other trades and resentment from customers.
I've often been asked by customers if l could recommend a "Good Plumber".....
I Can't !! I' Never Met One!!

So I have a cunning plan....

If anyone here knows or discovers a " Good Plumber " please let me know
I need to find 2 of them so l can attempt to breed them in captivity. When they are mature they will be released into the Construction lndustry for the good of mankind.

Eventually with luck, the existing plumbers, faced with Polite, Considerate, Reasonably Priced, Hard Working new plumbers will have had their feathers ruffled enough for them to " Cluck Off " for good!!

I know it's only an idea but does anybody think it might work?

( lf only 1 " Good Plumber is found the only option left is to clone them )

I know a couple but they're both big lads and any attempt to breed them would no doubt result in the spillage of blood and snot.

A couple I know, trev....Peter and Paul. Try to breed them and you'd end up with a bloody Mary.:wink5:

I knew a couple of plumbers in the 1960s and they really were proper tradesmen and highly skilled.I blame all this plastic snap-on rubbish and inflated prices for the present plumbers with "attitude."

The problem with any captive breeding program is the low survival rate once released into the wild.

Perhaps capturing some of the younger ones, rehabilitating them and reintroducing them to the wild would work better.

Most of the older ones are past redemption, you only have to look at our own Geordie for evidence there :D

I worked on a hotel refurb in Brighton a few years ago and two of the plumbers used to sneak off to an empty room and 'mate' of their own accord. We nearly had to throw buckets of cold water over them.

Ah yes .... Brighton - say no more.

They have a nice pier there, and Graham Greene's novel "Brighton Rock" is a good read.

I have just one thing to say to you and it's UFH :)

it still working. and so is the last one i did with 6 zones, cat5 wired stats, programmed to mobile phone app. so ner, ner.

My Dad's a Plumber and has been for the last 42 years. He is nothing like you say in the original post although he thinks Electricians are messy and Gods gift to the building trade. He also says it's easier to get a cable from A-B than it is a pipe. He must not see all the containment we have to install.

hmmmph. he must be one of those rare plumbers that make their own routes instead of using the ones the sparks drilled the day before.

Op thread is fundamentally flawed. Surely if you want to improve the plumbing species you need to modify the genetic make up. Now bread a plumber with an electrician that's the answer. Volunteers??
