I have just provided a new 3 phase supply to a 12Kw twin tank fryer 6Kw per tank over 3 elements per tank, wired in 3 phase wye, however L2 draws more current than the other 2,wired in 16mm tails from henlys to a 3 phase MCB @ 32A B curve then in HO7RN-F 10mm 5 core to the fryer,, loads are L1 21A, L2 29.7, L3 21.6, N is minimal buts as it should be the only thing going back the N is the current from the indicator lamps and the contactor coils when it comes in its all new gear so whats going on I expect a few amps either way on start up but 8 amps ?? any ideas welcome

Are the fryers brand new, if not part of the element may have failed?

Do they have single phase circulation/ drain pumps?

Are you just providing the supply or also (re) commissioning the fryers?

No pumps, my breif was provide supply connect and commision, what I didn,t do was take a resistance across each element in turn, I was thinking mabe L2 element is a slightly higher wattage to perhaps maintain the oil temperature during service, Dont know, it is new but not brand new out the box, may well be returned item, ex display who knows. The customer is happy with it, it just puzzled me when I as doing tests is all
