Hi lads,

Did anyone sit the 2391 exam last night? I did and I didnt find it too bad. The hardest thing is waiting at least 10 weeks to see if I passed or not:mad:. Does anyone know how many marks there where for section A and for section B? I'm trying to work out how many questions I didnt know and then see what score I got.

Cheers

Jay

Not bad, so if you have upto 30 marks wrong over all you will have 80%. Or is it 12 marks wrong in part A and 28 marks wrong in part B? We were also told they will only allow 26% of people in the country to pass it on any one nite. So if you get 85% and 26% of the rest who took it got say 90% then they will fail you. What a crappy thing to do.

Thats right, if you dropped 30 marks you will achieve 80%. The 26% bit is rubbish! Sometimes the pass rate hovers around that figure sometimes its higher 40-45%. The results can be marked up or down, depending on how all candidates performed.
Look on the bright side, you could score 20% on the paper and be given a result of 60%

Are lec who marks says 100% is the average pass mark. But this can be higher if they deem the exam to be easier then normal.
Oh and if you miss 1 of the 4 key answers out of a 15 mark question the highest you can score in that que is 7 marks. This is the case for most 15 mark questions. So just totting up what you answered from memory mite not give you a true reflection on what you ve scored. If the que was to test a ring main and explain Safe Isolation threw to testing, If you get the Safe Isolation in the incorrect order 7 Marks Max.
Hope this Has nt depressed you to much :S

C&G wont disclose a pass mark but it is around 65%. Im not sure if you are saying 100% is the pass mark but can be higher??

I did Thursdays as well. I think i will have got it but it will be close. I think i got somewhere around the 70 mark. I didnt find it too bad, but still not easy either. I looked at the past papers, and given that there are 3 people who write the exam in turn there is a pattern, so i bet on plenty of Insulation resistance questions, a good few paperwork related, and a fairly straightforward scenario, and it paid off. I have no problem with any of the test methods, i can rattle them all off in the right order to the n'th degree. I am Ok with the terminology and correct phrases. My weakspot is calculations, but thankfully the ones we had to do were fairly basic, so i didnt struggle too much. This exam was definitely easier than most of the practice papers i have seen and done.

And i have had 3 weeks to revise and practice which is a lot more than some had.

Cheers.........Howard

How did you get on with question 23 b ?

I cant remember what the qu was. got all the drawings spot on. Miss worded a few things like for the first qu. 3 responsabiltys a person doing an inspection & test?

I put

To ensure no danger to persons, livestock or buildings
To compare test results with past test results
To advise of any remedila works.

So coul get marked down cos it says in GN3 "to compare tset results with design criterea"
Hoping they will think well if its a periodic then you would compare with past test results.

Anyway the more I think about the exam the more I get worried. I feel I did ok but it depends on how they see my answer. I know that most of them are right but will they think the same?!

Cant remember what 23b was. You did better than me on q1, i put to ensure no danger to, 1, persons, 2, livestock,3 buildings.

So my estimation of 70% is getting worse by the day. I was ok with drawings as well. I am not worried if i pass i pass, If i fail i fail and will have another crack at it. May be a bit edgy when the envelope drops through the door. At least with this i have a chance, when i did my o levels i had no chance.

where did you take it?

At KITS in Brighouse. Was nervous for the first 10 qu, but after that just settled in and finished with half hour to go. Went over my answers and changed a few but wish I hadnt cos they were right first time. So 10 weeks then its either a big brown envelope with a cert in it or a little white one with sorry but.....

Heres hoping.

Dont mind doing it again, its the waiting 10 weeks I dont like especialy cos Im looking for a job at the mo and I cant put down I have the 2391 but I stand a better chance if I have it.

If you know and understand GN3 that is the key. The other big thing is correct terminology. Eg if you call a "minor electrical installation works certificate" a minor works certificate, which is what everyone calls it, you wont get the marks

Really wish we'd get the marked papers back with ticks and crosses, just like back in school. I'll be wondering about this for a while...
