Chuffing, my old mate from Maltby used to say that all the time, as well as other things:eek:,worked with him for 24 years then he passed away suddenly last year, the post just made me think of poor old Frank.

Rest In Peace Frank.
but I’m from Bournemouth. Just trying to fit in with the Ilkla Moor Baht ‘at.
It’s not working. I’ll never throw that southern accent.
(Now waiting for abuse from both North and South):p

The main fuse only protects the dno system, as long as the tails are ok then it's fine. As stated by others, millions of these in the country. Problem comes when it's a 30 amp rewireable fuse in the cut out, electrician has rewired, 100 amp cu, or a nice 10kw shower. First question we used to ask when we went to attend a no supply like this was "who was in the shower?".

Just nipping across to the property now....

And there is the white paint on the outgoing terminals!

That is original as you can see the white paint has not been disturbed.

Bits of info like that is all down to experience which you will now never forget.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. I'll admit that the level of knowledge and perhaps more so the breadth of knowledge required is more extensive than I thought it would be. Certainly keeps it interesting - and part of the attraction of the job I think.

Thanks Westward:)

From the Part No on the cover the rcd does belong in there, the give away being the 63A rating on the cover label as a non rcd board would state 60A. You don't actually know if it is 30ma, it could be a dodgy 100ma tripping below its rating:D
I don't believe thats and RCD, it's an ELCB. I'd recommend a board change with up to date split RCD protection.

It behaved very much like a 30mA RCD on testing.......

I recently carried out an EICR on a two up two down terrace. The cut out out has a sticker on it saying 80 amp. The main switch of the consumer unit is rated at 63 amp.
question 1 , the next test date 2024,why is it being done
question 2 , DNO, fuse rated at 80amps
question 3, why do you think the DNO needs to change the fuse!

You're thinking of the older ELCB that measured the voltage on the earth. This one clearly states its current operated. i.e. an RCD.
