went out to a music studio 2day, theyve got an old 30a 400v MEM 3phase distribution board with hbc fuses protecting all the circuits, just wondering what you rekon about putting RCD on to sockets, ent done much on400v so jus ent 2 sure if it needs it n how 2 go about it

some are on 1 phase mixed with lights and some on another, and then theres 1 phase completely free

Is the studio a place of work?
Will non-workers have access to the socket-outlets?

The workers should be skilled or instructed, and if the socket-outlets are not intended to be used by ordinary persons, or for mobile equipment for use outdoors, then BS7671 doesn't require they be RCD protected.

Why are RCD's necessary... Innit?

jus dnt trust the staff, skilled and instructed when they half cut and stoned lol u kno the sort of stuff that goes on in recording studios

As long as you document an acceptable reason for omitting the RCD's, be it designated labelling of points, supervised by competent persons or whatever. You can then crack on, certify and scarper.

sound, good stuff. 1 last thing any1 know the best place to get mem HRC fuses and carriers at a decent price
