Sorry looks like its double posted the image

The NICEIC produce a level 3 initial verification, inspection and testing learning guide that may be suitable.
This would be for 2394 (or at least the EAL equivalent) but as the 2392 is an introduction to the 2394 this may stand you in good stead to be able to progress faster.
The book you refer to does not look to have been printed since 2008 and so would not cover any of the amendments to BS7671.

Thanks Richard for your reply.
Im going to get that book you mentioned to get a better understanding & do some light reading lol before i start the 2392-10 on the 20th.

I hope you also have guidance note 3 (or access to it) as this will provide the basis for the knowledge you need to gain.
Good luck with the exam.

Yes I've been going through guidance note 3 today.
I remember reading on here about CRIPLER for the order sequence of tests
Does this mean that you would do all the CPC's continuity test method 1 for each circuit first (so you also get R1+R2) or would you do circuit by circuit?
I know the course will cover it but I want to try & understand as much as possible before hand so that the course is a bit easier lol.

As this is initial verification of an as yet unpowered installation then measuring all the low resistances one after the other is the easiest way to do it.
Using the "approved" method you would start with continuity of bonding conductors, move on to continuity of radial circuits and finish with continuity on ring final circuits, however the order here is not too critical so long as you ensure they are all measured.
The continuity of bonding and cpcs ensures that the protection methods for ADS are in place before applying power to the circuit. Also if the conductors were not continuous then moving on to insulation resistance would be pointless because parts of the circuit would not be tested.

And that last little bit on why continuity is tested before insulation resistance was a recent 2394/5 written exam question.

Well done, the revision was worth it!

Good work.

Thanks Richard,

I was really happy about passing both exams & couldn't wait to get back to see the mrs & my 6yr old little princess.
just under 5hrs later by train I get back feeling really good & then the mrs says its over as soon as I walk in the door.
Not feeling so great now. Lets see what else life can throw at me!!

Life is full of surprises and not all of them (or the minority of them, perhaps) are good.
However life also has ways of managing and coming up with different paths to follow.
I hope that the path you can now take will not be as bad as perhaps you think.
It is a change but you will have to see how it develops and try to maintain a positive outlook.
To paraphrase "sunscreen":
Remember the good things you receive,
forget the bad...
If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

At least you passed the exams!

Good luck.
