BACK DOOR SECURITY LIGHT

Hello can anyone advise me on this please...
My mum wants her back pathway lit up and was gonna get a battery operated Mr Beams light. I wondered could I just put a security light on the main wall attached to the house and run the cable straight to the consumer box as I would only have to drill through one wall to get to it and would probably be a lot brighter for her. I've heard you need use armoured cable but I don't see why as the light will be under a roof shielded from rain and wouldn't be any wire on the floor...it's literally 1 light going through 1 wall to the consumer box inside the house...

That would be classed as adding a new circuit and would fall under part p of the building regs and require a certificate
A cable that could stand up to UV would be ok.
I know it not the best/cheapest solution but could you not get an electrician in to fit you one?if it is as easy as you say then it would cost around £40 i recon

Many DIY'ers would drill through wall and then plug light in to an existing socket, really advise not to add to consumer unit due to risk

Just put a plug on the end of a security light and plug it straight in you mean...never really thought of doing that...cheers
