cometent person schemes

Hello I am soon to become qualified electrician and just needed to know a few things because I am a bit worried about starting off as money is a bit tight and these competent persons schemes are quite expensive also trying to find work.

1) do I need to join a competent persons scheme straight away? can I work with a company until I can afford to join one?

2) If I join a company who are registered with the niceic do I still have to join a competent person scheme?
3) Which is the best competent persons scheme to join?

1. No you dont and it will take several weeks to arrange an assessment you can work for anyone that is willing to take you on.

2. If you work for a company that is already registered then the supervisor will check your work.


3. Ask all of them for applications and read up on them then join the scheme that suits you and what you want to do the best.
