just got one today, they said they can see its lapsed and was asking if i was going to renew, i told them no and then they had the cheek to ask why.

too expensive, i dont need them for any acredation so it is £150 for a mag through the door every so often.

its not even worth becoming a member for the litriture

Have you ever heard of "exit interviews"?

It is good practice to establish why someone is leaving an organisation/not renewing membership, etc. It's hardly being cheeky.

I renewed my membership for half price.
Then cancelled it again when they charged twice.
They also changed me from Member to Associate Member.

that kind of thing is why i quit, i joined when i was at college.

i joined as a student and then when it was time to renew they transfered me over to a full account and expected me to pay full price.

i should have been allowed to be an apprentice member like it says on there site

You know you are not paying for it as you can claim your membership fees back from the taxman as professional subsritions

You can only claim the tax back, i.e. 20%. You will still pay 80% of it.

You can claim the full amount as an expense, which reduces your profit.
You then save whatever tax would be due on that expense, just the same as if you purchased some tools.
Think about it, why would the Tax man pay for your professional subscriptions?

I'm PAYE and when I get my tax coding the amount is added to what I am allowed before I start paying tax
