Hi, newbie here. I'm looking at imperial red and black from the cutout to the meter. Can't access the ends of the cable to measure the strands. The diameter of the cable is 9mm. Can anyone guide me on what the most likely imperial size was (e.g. 7/052?) Many thanks! SW

1/044 conductors - no metric equivelant.

3/029 - equivelant to 1mm2.
3/036 - equivelant to 1.5mm2.

7/029 - equivelant to 2.5mm2 .

7/036 equivelant to 4mm2.

7/044 equivelant to 6mm2.

7/052 equivelant to 10mm2.

7/064 equivelant to 16mm2.

The above has been copied and pasted from the net so I can't prove its accuracy but I'm sure some of the more mature members can confirm the sizes.

Not very i'm afraid, many of those imperial cables have a higher mm CSA than there metric equivalents, for example 7/029 is almost 3mm as i remember...

Hi - many thanks, but as I can't access the cable strands I'm unable to determine which of the above imperial cables it is; I need to be able to take the best view from the exterior diameter of the cable, which is 9mm2 (note this is not the CSA of the conductor, but the diameter of the outer sheath). Anyone got any sample cables out there who could measure for me?

7/064 at a guess , 16mm in french mm
