Hello all,

I am doing a consumer unit upgrade for a family member in a domestic household, However i am unsure if ther earthing arrangement is up to scratch, As it is, the main eartghing conductor is clamped onto the incoming supply conduits. Southern electric have been and installed a key meter with the installation as it is, I am jib approved electrician, but im from an industrial background, Any advice from any of you guys would be greatly appreciated. I have attached some photo's for your perusal.

Is it relying on the conduit for its earth.

What type of cable comes from the conduit and what Ze have you measured.

Need to see more pics.

diss those cables from the conduit then try for a Ze. then consider best way to provide a reliable earth, as i bet you won't have one.

What's at the other end of the conduit? Or does it just disappear into the ground?

Current Regs don't support the use of a water gas etc pipe as an earth method. But that looks like the DNO incoming feed conduit.
As suggested I'd test the Ze of just that pipe and see what that gives. I do hope the metals clean under the clamps.
