Most colleges do a maths and English test to find out if you need help. Don't think they can refuse you, discrimination and all that. I think Widdler is the man to ask on this one.

tbh if they wanted as part of the course requirements you to have an english at c or above then they should not have let you on the course if they felt that strong. as you are already on it then the provision should be made to help you gain either an adult literacy at level 2 which is the same level as an english a-c grade gcse or they should arrange for an in house test so they can establish your abilities. if they are threatening to throw you off you need to speak to student services straight away. there will be someone who can help and advise you there. also they should be helping you with your literacy if you need it. feel free to pm me if you need anymore advice

Late to the party on this thread, but thanks to paulm for the heads up.
Phil has covered the essentials with your scenario mate. It's the duty of the college students services to offer any extra curriculum for assistance with this area, be it maths, english or anything else.

What course exactly is it you are attending?

For example, the city & guild state for the 2330...

Are there any learner eligibility requirements?
Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.
