Got asked today from a kitchen company if there fitters could connect the appliances into the switch spurs themselfs . I told him they should been using an electrician. he said he had heard that of a course for his fitter to enable to connect these appliances into the switch fuses themselfs .i said i had never ever heard of that and that this needs to be done by a competent person. is there such a course to allow kitchen fitter to do this ? thanks

There sure is - it's called the part P competant person scheme

Ummm, if the sw spurs are feeding a cable outlet plate then they are permitted to connect the appliance to that.

What they are talking about is the competent person scheme "defined scope" which I believe all the main CPS do and a few more besides.
