Hi, I'm looking to buy a labelling machine but not sure which one's best. Does anybody have any idea which ones I should be looking at. It's main uses will be for marking up consumer units, heating controls and cables ect. I've been looking at brother pt7600 and rhino 5200 but just can't decide. Any tips?

I Have the rino - have to keep cleaning the head otherwise its "bitty" and I keep it charged up so its not lack of power. i think the brother does more for your £'s but that's onlu my opinion.

I have a Brother PT7500 kit, it's the same as the PT7600 but without the rechargeable battery pack, It runs on 6xAA cells or the supplied PSU. All the kit is in a blow moulded case. Its cheaper than the PT7600 often with big discounts just because people don't recognise the model number. It's an excellent piece of kit, the best label printer I've come across.

My boss has a brother labeler (dont know what model though). He seems happy enough with it and says its easy to use and isn`t a heavy, offensive thing to carry around either..........

Before you buy, check how readily the refills are available.

I made the mistake of picking up a Casio machine years ago when I was in the Far East... Refills not available in the UK! Doh!

you can buy a brother for £14.99, but the tapes cost £17.99 ?????

I've got a brother p-touch 12... something or other that I've had for years. Does what I need but may not even be available to buy anymore.

The one that markie mentions is the mutts so I'm told.

I sold a Brother after getting the Rhino which I now regret!

Also I think the brother refills are 8mtrs where as the Rhino are only 5mtrs. It means that the Rhino costs a whopping £3.50 per metre to run :(

Can’t comment on other brands, but my brother pt-1200 has never let me down, and the tapes are good quality and are readily available. (The tape I use the most is the clear 12mm with black ink)
