Hi,

I'm an electrician and this is my 1st post! I'm currently working on a large house refurb and am going to install sensors for the lighting in the hall, stairs and landing feeding spotlights. Upstairs needs at least 4 sensors in the long hallway and some lights need to be controlled from 2 sensors. I'm thinking LED's? Any advice on which sensors to use? the best way to wire them? Override switch?

Thanks

most PIR sensors are happy with LED lighting. watch out for start-up surge when assessing the load capacity of the sensors. always find it a good idea to draw the circuit out as to how you want which sensors control which lights. i'd not bother with override switches unless customer wants them.

Stay away from elkay, I've had lots of bother with them coming on when no-one is around! Danlers are good usually and mk. I use the flush ceiling mounted versions which are adjustable for time and lux. I usually wire a 3core + e to a switch and use the switch as either an over-ride on/ off deepening on what the clients preference is. As with all sensors location is key to it being effective.
