Hi,
Has anyone picked up one of these yet - just had the updated price from my supplier and had a quick look online - appears it no longer comes with the B32 MCB as OCP - guessing its now DIN mounted?! Or do you now have to buy the OCPD as an addition?

Are you talking about the SPD protection?

If not fitted it's not needed presumably

Sorry - yes I was unclear- yes the SPD MCB that was fitted in the old range seems to have been deleted. As you say I guess no longer required - just the SPD looked he same from what I saw, although it was a brief look

Ah ok I'm not familiar with fusebox

Take a look at the other SPD thread I'm nearly sure a poster referenced fusbox as having internal protection now

So its likely 125A max backup

Hi, I've just fitted the new version this weekend.. .. no MCB included or required. It gives you a spare way compared with the old fuse box CU

There are a fair few manufactures going this way with using direct bus bar Spds.

Dedicated breaker there's a risk of it being switched off on the line pole

Ah perfect - thanks for the update! I have some on order now so will be fitting next week.

The Boards are now called Distribution Boardsor DB. And an SPD (surge protection devise), is optional when purchasing, as it all depends in which circumstance your fixing it. (House of multiple occupatio) etc.

Without being facetious, I am aware of the terminology for a DB and the latest updates within BS7671 for the requirements for when to fit SPD's to an electrical installation. Neither of which were what I was asking.

'Fusebox' is the brand name of the product. Whilst you are not wrong to call it a distribution board, a more accurate terminology (in this case as we are dealing with a domestic range of DB's) would be consumer unit. However, it is a 'fusebox' consumer unit.

Fusebox have started fitting an SPD that doesn't need an MCB. I think it is pink!

Distribution board is not less accurate. A consumer unit is, by definition, a single phase type-tested distribution board with a linked double pole main switch intended for use by ordinary persons.
