Heard on the grapevine there is a new updated BS7671 book due end of the year which will have a yellow cover.

Anyone know anymore?

Is it another Amendment to 17th Ed or are we moving on to 18th Edition ?

Ha ha was 15th yellow? long before my time!!!
I started the 2394 course last night and the tutor mentioned the changes due end of this year, he failed to mention if it was another amendment or whole new edition though and I forgot to ask at the end of the class.

Another update course maybe??

Orange 14th for me.....thought they were all orange until the rainbow men appeared to make the regular changes....bleedin chameleons.

Amendment 3 of the 17th Edition is due in 2015 and will be a new edition (yes, you'll be buying a new book). The 18th Edition is in preliminary talks and is likely to be out in 2018.

Amendment 3 is available on the IET website for preliminary viewing/consultation, so you can get an idea of what the update will involve - not many changes, the big one is the need for RCD protection for all socket outlets, unless there is a written risk assessment to say there is no need for one (or similar, it's 3 weeks since I read it.)

I'd recommend everyone to look regularly at the IET site to keep themselves abreast of forthcoming changes.

There'll be no need to do a course for Amd. 3. if you already have 2382.

Also read on the ECA site it's the 3rd Amendment and I think this will be the last of the 17th, looking forward to having a snazzy yellow book!! Although the stripe may blend in on GN3!!! Will be a busy end of year on here I am sure, hopefully the book will be out around 6 months before it comes into place

I seem to remember the 13th being the first Reg book that i know of. That may have been while working after school and weekends with my uncle for 2 or 3 years though.

I do remember the 14th being the last edition that was written in plain or easily understandable English!! Didn't need any god knows how many OSG's either, in them days, you were taught how to do things, that was the whole point of an apprenticeship and the technical training!! ...lol!!

I was wrong it's the fourteenth edition 1966 second impression!
Printed at the bottom of the front cover reads: 'Price 17s 6d which includes postage'. Which I imagine would of been about 1 weeks wage back then!

It must have been the 14th edition then, not the 13th.... Things get a bit hazy going back that far!! lol!!

The colour order is red , green , yellow, Blue, Brown then we will be onto the 18th addition (Page 9 of the BGB) and yes the yellow one is coming out in 2015 there is also an amendment to the current BGB for section 7.10 reference to Medical locations and vehicle charging its a free down load but not found it yet

.....You were lucky, course we had to do with papyrus, lemon juice code writing and sanscrit notes.....:whatchutalkingabout
