Remind me again about 17th Edition exam criteria?

40 years experience in the trade, last did the 16th exam on 1996.....Do I need to (re)do other C&G's to "qualify" to do the 17th or can I wing it as an external candidate (up in Scotland).

As for modern SVQ, forget that, as I passed C&G's stuff way back in the early 70's.
Up in Scotland by the way !

Basically what do I now need to do (minimum) ?

C&G 2382-10 - 17th Edition Update. One day course in most places. You only need to do the 3 day one if your 16th was prior to 93 I think....from a failing memory.

Scotland doesn't have a "Part P" as yet (if it will), and the other thing you might want to look at is inspection and testing - 2391.
