Remote control switching

Hi Guys

I wonder if anyone can help me out on this.

I am currently working on an old longhouse with very low ceilings and oak panel walls.

The customer is requesting 3 pin 6 amp lighting sockets to switch table lamps etc. So far so good.

The problem is the switching method. The cable run would be a nightmare so I am thinking of using the current ring main with plug in remote control devices. Four of them.

Does anyone know a make that can be controlled via something looking much like a light switch that can be attached to the wall as opposed to the usual TV remote control hybrid.

Is this for a domestic installation or a commercial set-up (say a Restaurant)??

From a domestic view, i can't see a problem, table lamps normally come with an in-line switch and the outlets can be controlled easily with a wall switch. I did basically the same thing when i rewired my sisters house years donkey's ago, run in a dedicated table lamp circuit (6 or 7 points) via 2A socket outlets, controlled by a two gang wall switch, one for the center light and the other for the table lamps.

E54 yes normally but not so easy if you can`t touch the Grade one listed 17th century oak panels, which I cant. Which leaves me with radio controlled plug ins. There are plenty about but all seem to have controllers similar to small TV remotes which will look dreadful in that environment. So I am hoping to find ones with something akin to a DG switch that can be mounted on the one bit of stone wall I can touch.

How are you running the cables for the ring circuit then, if you can't touch these oak wall panels??

They were put in in the 80`s at a guess, before the whole building was listed. They are floor sunk, a floor which was then relayed with the original solid granite slabs.
