Was sub contracted in by a plumber to replace an electric shower. Old shower was going hot and cold intermittently. Plumber assumed the shower was knackered and told me to replace it like for like. No cable installation just a straight swop. Also as soon as shower was turned on lights in the flat were dimming slightly (volt drop?). I have not been able to rectify the dimming but I am presuming there is a loose connection somewhere?

Anyhow, brand new shower now has the exact same problem hot and cold intermittently. I'm totally lost to why this is happening. Plumber assures me that the water pressure is fine. However cold feed loops up and back down on itself then connects into the shower. But plumber isn't having it though. The fact that the same thing is happening on a brand new shower as on previous shower leads me to believe there is a problem elsewhere?

any ideas?

8.5kw shower ran in 6mm, clipped direct, 32 amp breaker

old persons residential apartment.

with the shower running hot, flush the bog. if it goes cold then it's the water pressure.

This is a long shot but we had a triton shower doing the same thing. Changed it still the same issue. Read up on it and it had a minimum pressure output. There was a small filter in the shower head that the cleaner had changed during his shower head disinfection. Took the filter out and it was all good

normally water pressure , lights can dim slightley when you slap 8.5kw same as the main supplies light tend to dim at 8.00 when corrie finishes and there a surge of people switching kettles on

incorrec/varying water supply pressure
water mains supply only
check that little gauze filter in the inlet/ outlet

If you are going to try the flush the toilet method, at least have the decency to do a big sweaty one in it first and leave a few marks.

yeah.he did rather dump that one on us.
