Has anyone done one of these before?
I've wired in cat 5 and made up the RS485 plug to one of the two RS485 wiring protocols which I'm now thinking is wrong, and connected into the inverter
but what has also thrown me is at the terminal block at the solarlog I have to connect 4 wires ,

below numbered terminals in block

1 Data +
2 12V
3 Earth
4 Data-
5
6

manual says to use RJ45 format to connect to inverter and so there must be a different way to configure the RS485 plug can anyone point me in the right direction and it would be useful to know the wiring colours and their functions ie which is used for data+ /earth etc

having never done any data work before apart from installing cables etc I have looked at various sites and become more confused any help would be appreciated!

solarlog two version RS485 for over 40 versions or wireless with sma inverters
can email full installation manuals if required
or junk the crappy low effciency mastervolt and use bluetooth solarlog works with sma inverters

no worries sorted it this morning

we usually use SMA but this was installed a while ago before SMA brought in the Hf range

what do you think is wrong with mastervolts, I thought they were ok ?

google mastervolt recall
moved production to china from holland
mastervolt even have a offcial website for it
there website states small component can overheat -
eg thermal runaway or best case loss of FITs , worse case a fire in your attic dread to think about that one , court case anyone
all just to save a couple of quid on a inverter by fitting cheap components
sma occupy most of the top ten stops in photon inverter tests , mastervolt not even in the top30
HF highest effciency of any transformer inverter better than some compeititors transformless designs
happens all the time when production goes east for higher profits or lower prices
massive recalls and warranty claims recently on inverters/modules mastervolt fronius rec bp kyocera the list goes on
or companies claiming enginneered in germany/europe but just a rebranded chinese/indian product
or assembled from sub components from asia
you can count on one hand the number of pv modules built in house from silicon processing to a module
just check the label on the back/inside , if labour/components bought in you can never assure your quality
essential in a industry where products must survive for at least 25years or more
