Hello guys,
Have just installed a 17th edition CU for my NICEIC assessment, and was left with about 5 spare slots, which I have put the unused remaining MCB's in which were supplied with the CU, I have obviously left them off and marked them as spare, instead of removing them and getting blanking plates, is this OK?

why mark them as spare...??? unmarked is better as it means when some thing is installed we dont have to faf about covering up the Spare writing!!

yes its ok to leave mcb in board.

cheers steve.
Only wrote in pencil so it can be changed at a later date, just wanted to dot all of my 'i''s and cross all my 't''s before my assessment.

no probs...!!

main thing when you have spare ways in the CU is IP Rating!!! provding mrs jones cant poke her fingers in your covered...!!! with than been installing a blank or leaving the MCB in!! (i always take mcbs out as they cost £ and blanks cost P :)

then you reuse the mcb at later date for ££££

One of my pet hates is those who mark spare ways covered with blanks as 'SPARE'.....but if you leave unused mcb's in place they would have to be marked to avoid confusion.
IMO it is far better to use blanks and put unused mcb's on the van which can then be flogged to another customer....double bubble:D
