Hi,
I'm working on a project where I intend to use Electrical Resistance Wiring, outdoors, in order to generate as much heat as possible while maintaining safety.

What is a good, durable, material that I could use to insulate the wire while allowing as much heat to radiate as possible?

What are some other good options if Electrical Resistance isn't the best option? I need it to be portable and relatively easy to move.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure where in the world you are, but I read your post as you intend to use an electrical wire/condustor as an heating element, is that correct?

out of my league , but did think nice piece of wire , wired into mains at christmas would be lovely across the room, couldnt heat up

It's the same as UFH except it's outside, some football clubs use it to stop their pitches frezzing during the winter.

Sounds to me as it needs to be portable and relatively easy to move, that what you need is some sort of an Electric Blanket with thermal reflective backing to reflect heat down, in a handleable width that can be unrolled onto the pitch in sections and rolled up for matches.
It might be worth getting in touch with a Electric Blanket manufacturer as they might be interested in producing something like that as from what you say it might open a market for them.
Plus the heating cable used in electric blankets are flexible and waterproof probably more suitable than UFH cable which is not designed for flexing.

Hi could you let us know what you are intending to warm up/thaw outdoors to give me an idea of exactly what you need to have as an end result, then I will look into what I think would be useful , and where to get it in Canada or the United states.....maybe a photograph of the oudoor area or where you would want to be using the heating.....
