A megger mft1552 or a Metrel MI3100 Eurotest Easi 17th Edition Tester? The metrel is £75ish cheaper - is the megger still a better buy - any opinions welcome as i have no real experience of either. Thanks

recently bought the megger myself, its pretty decen't. i read around this forum and found it was considered more reliable or consistant in its readings. cant comment on the metrel never used them

Its a matter of personal choice, they all do the same thing in a different way.
I had (still have but for sale) a Robin1620, cracking bit of kit, easy to use.
My mate Yorkcityspark has got a Seaward and thats another cracking bit of kit, and very reasonably priced.
I now have a Fluke 1652 very nice but not as easy to use as either of the 2 i mentioned, but i will get used to it, as i got it cheap off mate.

Thanks for the replies so far - we will be using the megger 1552s in college a lot in the next couple of months so that makes me lean toward them. I see that some of the metrels have extra features to do with 3 phase and measuring earth leakage but not sure if you need extra attachements to do this or how much i need those features or even if i would be better also getting a clamp meter - whole new set of decisions there as well:confused: I do know that this whole thing is costing a lot of cash and there is still a shed load more to pay out before i ever get to see the chance of some return:(
