the fella I help out isa really nice bloke tbh, I cannot understand how he makes it pay at all. Last week he asked could he come to my house and show him how to test...Well done NICEIC. Between them all, they make a mockery of the so called competent persons scheme./

I moaned on another thread about this very thing...the schemes are a con and always will be so long as they allow every Tom, Dick or Harry to buy the green forms from them without checks. As an example a friend of mine who is a joiner and has done minor electrical work for years without problems bought a book of green certificates (certificates for non registered people) from niceic to do inspections (he chooses not to do them and gets a fully qualified to do it). This got me wondering what is to stop the cowboy or someone with no testing experience getting the green sheets and appearing legitimising their work. The clients will get a certificate, think all is well when it may not be, and wont find out otherwise until its too late.

Have had it out with our the napit / elecsa and ECA inspectors numerous times , always the same response ! can you guess what it was !?:disappointed:

They pay so they're in.
Money talks end of.
Once all the schemes drop the pretence of doing things for the sake of improving electrical safety and admit to being profit driven , both the public and the industry will be better off.

It does make you wonder if it's worth bothering when all these unregistered guys do a job then just don't bother testing or issuing certificates. Most of the time the customer is none the wiser, and even when they are, all that seems to happen is that LBC ask for an EICR from another spark.

By the way DS, I'm assuming they managed to take the annual fee out of your account...

Next year the goverment will impliment any changes from this years part p review.
From what i hear fewer jobs will need to be notified and councils may reduce the fees for non registered sparks.
Next year you might not need to be in a scheme anyway.

Well i m regestered for PIR's with elecsa additional £350 every 3 years this year im not renewing that side because of there responce to a inspection i did , cutting to the short 35 deviations 10 code 1's exposed terminals every where , even to the extent of the lighting circuit having no cpc's and test resaults on the certs nice and it was given a satisfactory report im taking these with me to elex next week will be shown to the ESC and elecsa who this company is a member should be fun

I don't understand why people pay extra to do EICRs when you don't need to be registered to do one? What does paying benefit you

did get a few more out of it and i do alot for letting agents who insist on it i know you dont need to regester to do them but its like before part #P if you were NIC etc you gained work its credability i supose

No mic what what I mean is why are you paying extra to do an EICR you are still part P registered without paying extra?

yes they still take the 40 quid a month form my bank with out fail...! might just enquire with DCC and see what there policy is for paying direct...!

with elecsa when you are part P which i am it only covers Part P and not EICR's you have to pay extra for that

Nic why would you need to be covered for a EICR? I have no idea. You don't need to register a EICR

hahahaha!! we would get bashed and bruised by the big boys scared of taking there money...!

dont but like i said some letting agents require you to be regestered for test and inspection to get the work even though i have the 2391 it was an add on to get the work it is just another piece of paper to say you can do the job
