Just heard on radio that the Police have issued a warning after over over 20 vans have been broken into and had tools stolen in the last week in the Blackpool area. They said that doors have been forced or windows smashed, they believe a gang are targeting the area at the moment.
Just thought it might be worth passing on the info.

Scumbags. Hope your tools are safe john and lets hope that they catch them. Hate **** like this...happened to my old man a few years back and everything was taken. They're not just stealing tools...they're stealing valuable equipment, and lively hoods...they'll get community service when caught and its really not good enough.

one reason why all my tools come out of the van when parked up.

Let the mastif sleep in the van overnight im sure it would stop the scum in their path :)

Id put the wife in too but im not that cruel as she'd eat them alive :furious3:

A few have around my area lately, northamptonshoire, 3 of my friends in the kast week. Iv started taking all my kit in at night. Looked on ebay for some locks, 24.99 each.

there was a massive spate round london, it calmed down for a bit when they caught a gang of Romanians in the act. a chippie on one site i was on caught them in the act and managed to throw a hammer into the back of one as he ran off. Another job i was on it happened a few times somthey hired security but the security guard fell asleep in his motor and 4 vans got done. he was sacked on the spot. SCUM

Put two of them big circular locks on my van last week one on side door one on back, think they were £25 pound each from machine mart, not the most attractive things hang on the side of the van but hopefully a bit more of a deterrent.

Thanks for the heads up. Will make sure I take them in the house at night. Got done outside my house in Layton few years back lost drills and tools but since then touch wood its been ok.

Always been one of my biggest fears that some little sh*t will get into the van again and nick the lot. Had alarm & deadlocks fitted plus armaplates to give a visible deterrent and so far (fingers crossed) not had any bother.
