Can't see Conlok lasting long floating above the gate. Threaded for me every time.
Possibly but as I say I don’t have a Bender or vice to hold the conduit. Plus I would have to buy a tap and die set and grease etc. I don’t use it in work so it’s a lot to outlay.

I've bent conduit before without a machine using 2 strips of 1 inch ply screwed together with a 20mm hole in one end. Find a 90degree corner to hold the conduit, slip the conduit through the hole in the wood and use it as a lever to slowly form the bend as it starts to form inch the wood along to keep forming it into a nice radius.
An old spark taught me this method nearly 20 years ago when we were on a job and needed to bend some conduit but had no bending machine with us.
I used this method a couple of weeks ago for a 1off bend in some galv for a church light but had to use 3x2' timber as that was all that was lay about.

Sure there is nobody in your area willing to let you try their bender for an hour to practice?

Any advice on a tap and die set and any grease or sprays that I would need for the conduit. I’m planning on painting it. A mate is going to lend me his vice.

Just about any electrical wholesaler will have a stock & die set for 20mm & 25mm. They'll also sell a tin of cutting compound.

If you want something a bit cheaper, then ebay or Amazon should deliver.

Niglon stock & die sets seem to be the cheap option from wholesalers. While they aren't the best available, they're more than good enough for regular use.

I still need to order the galvanised conduit and boxes. I was thinking about possibly getting someone to do it. I don’t mind having a go myself as we don’t use it in our line of work. Fire and Security. My mate also let me down with his Conduit Bender.

I’m also planning to paint it White, is there anything I will need other than some Hammerite Paint? Does it need to be rubbed down etx?

Would be so much tidier burying it, but I understand wanting to expand your practical experience.

Hammerite can be painted onto anything really, but if you’re painting boxes and lids, it will be difficult to remove the lids in future.
