Hi all,

We had a cable ran down to the bottom of our garden for when we were going to get a garage but we decided against it.

I was looking to get an outside socket fitted down there for hoovering the car etc.. the only problem is there isn't anywhere really to mount it. Currently the cable is just coming out of the ground. I was thinking maybe a concrete block or something but not sure on regulations etc..

Cheers

all depends on if you've got RCD protection on the cable or not. overcurrent device, size of cable etc. a concrete or timber stanchion would be best and an IP65 socket ( RCD socket if none at supply end )

It is rcd protected and the cable is shielded not sure of size though. If I could use a concrete post that would be ideal or even hide it into a statue or something

check the cable size. concrete post is ideal. if cable is 6mm, use a 32A MCB.../ 2.5mm, then a 20A MCB./ if 1.5mm, use a 10A. if you are using SWAarmour as cpc, then ensure the glanding and fly leads are sound and connected. obviously, you will test the install.
