HI all,

Ive just bought some ET solar modules and will be fitting them in landscape, ive e-mailed ET solar to ask if its ok to fix them on the short ends, i think i e-mailed someone in china as i got a responce to say it was ok to, but the e-mail was vague at best, does anyone know how you find out what panels you can or cant fix this way.

thanks
Grand

I would be very careful with this. You may want to consider using a cross-rail system. Speak to your supplier about this. Good luck!

You cannot get the customer to sign off a project that you have not installed to the manufacturers instructions.

The liability is yours.

the customer is king , as long as your not breaking any regulations a waiver can form part of a contract

You can't fix ET on the short side, that's why we don't use them. Solarsparkie - sorry to be blunt but you're sort of installer give the rest of us a bad name.

Time to take responsibility for your work!

That’s extremely condescending, we take great pride in ourwork but realise we are in a service industry , 12 years down the line veryhappy client portfolio and get good money on all our jobs We don’t use thesepanels either , average pv sale price is still 2.8 k kwh although today is lastday for orders 12/12 so we’ve not brought all this trouble to the market byundercutting and doing cheap jobs .
Happy ( safe ) customers = happy bank manager
Happy ( soon to be dead ) customers = go to jail
Im not doing that on principal = baked beans for tea but atleast I have a smug feeling

It's not condescending. You suggested getting a customer to waiver an installation that you know will void a warranty. If that's not sharp practice I don't know what is!

The man is selling cheap changy stuff which we wouldnt do , now he has to play the hand he has dealt himself and the customer they are both to blame if the client hadnt gone with what i suspect was the cheapest price he wouldnt be in the situation if reputable tradesman had played the game there would be no fit cut and im sharp go figure?

Perhaps Solarsparkie you could :-

a) fit the inverter in the loft and get a waiver to cover that
b) not upgrade the earthing in the property and get a waiver for that
c) wire your systems in 2.5mm and get a waiver for that
d) Not fit an RCD , where necessary, and get a waiver for that
e) forget the brackets and rail and use chewing gum and get a waiver for that .

What a joke Anyone with an ar..hole gets an MCS registration these days.

Hopefully your MCS/ Part P inspector gets a good look at your waivers and kicks you into touch.
