Carbon Monoxide installation?

Just after a bit of advice please.

I need to install a carbon monoxide detector in a rented flat but not sure whether it needs 1 or 2.

It's a small one bed flat with a kitchen and living room. The gas boiler is in a separate kitchen cupboard and there is a gas hob in the kitchen. There is also a gas fireplace in living room.

Do I need a carbon monoxide detector in the kitchen and living room or just the living room?

The hallway between the kitchen and living room would provide the 1 - 3 metre cover required but I'm assuming it has to be in the actual room?

Any advice much appreciated.

I understand it is advisable to have CO detectors that cover the gas appliances and that it is compulsory to have them for any solid fuel burners (fire place-log burner etc). In my house have one for the utility room where the gas boiler lives and one for the lounge where the log burner lives. I would do both the kitchen and the lounge, but that's just me

I'd have a CO detector in both rooms as well.

For what they cost and the fact it could save a life I'd over engineer I think.
