Its the brown and blue cables tho. One little nick and that fitting could potentially become live.
Exactly.I'm no expert but having single insulated conductors inside the metal box doesn't seem like it fulfills the requirements.
You can see the sheathing at the top hole, even looks like a bit of heat shrink on the end.You need to know the construction of the conductor, the insulation may be reinforced.

all the op could do is earth the back plating that is on with ring crimp ,but if he takes it off at some time the front light fitting will not be earthed .Just the block connector renders that Class I.
