Discuss Convert Ring Circuit to 2 Radial Circuits? in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I had to split a ring the other day (no pun intended!) But i was wondering after they have been split and made into 2 radials. Can they be put on 1 CB either 16/20Amp if you know they wont be pulling much load??

Asking a question like that, .... perhaps it would have been better to ask yourself ''What'' was the point in splitting the Ring in the First Place???

I had to split the ring because a socket was in the way of the extension they were building with a large 3 metre door way in the way, concrete floor so i traced each cable and cut them out both sides so hence it is now 2 radials... just wanted to know if it was safe to put on 1 breaker as room is limited in the new consumer unit...

OK, ...fair enough!!

Wouldn't the cables then be coming from above ceiling then?? No way to link the 2 ring sockets either side of the removed socket??

No, they are hi tough cables in flooring which was screened. There is only a couple of sockets on each side so its not a big deal. Besides, makes it quicker when testing! When u know where the end is that is
