Orrrrrr, just get a wire stripper and free up some of his time so he can make tea and sweep up. :)

I don't even collect scrap cable anymore. Did it last year and only made £115 (100KG unstripped). Think I got stung a bit by the scrap yard but seemed a waste of time, taking into account all the extra time I spent ripping it out, driving to the scrap yard and putting up with a stack of cable in my garden. All for the price of a mornings work.
What kinda money can you get for stripped/unstripped these days?
I dont really have time for stripping cable but I'd be interested to know.

think of the people who risk life and limb to steal it,its because its worth a lot of money..

Just don't have time or inclination to strip so don't bother! Usually give to someone on site who wants to spend quality drinking time in stripping it! :-)

Just a quick rebuttal on my post! Joiner offered to strip and weigh in old cable being ripped out of office block and we will split, not going to argue with that lol

sure the pvc gives you good weight, so to actualy have kilos of copper from scrap bits .. says it all... i take 150 a kilo let them burn it or do what they want with it

I only strip it (get the apprentice to) if its worth it like decent size swa, dont bother with household stuff

I always remove my waste from jobs I work on and recycle accordingly.

I put the cable into a large box I have in my shed and strip it when I have nothing else better to do. Sometimes I weigh it in unstripped if the box has become full and I know that I'll be adding more on the next job.

It is time consuming which is why I do it in front of the TV. Stripping that is. Oops. Stripping scrap copper wire ;-)
