does the hieght requirments for sockets apply to extensions ?

alright all

i have 1st fixed an extension for a builder but hes moaning that this electricians normally put all the heights for the sockets and switches at the height required for disability that it says in the building regs but i thought that only applied for complete NEW buildings not a new extension to an existing houses

any help on this would be great ?

New build as far as i'm aware.Last extension i did,all sockets and swiches tallied up with the original building.

New sockets and switches should according to BS 7671and part M of the building regulations be fixed at a height that will assist people whose reach is limited.
This only applies to new builds and does not apply if you are adding to existing wiring in your own home or an extension.​
