Hi everyone my mothers bought a flat with e7 storage heaters and water tank with 2 elements a boost supply and immersion element .on the fcu it's split on left it's says economy 7 that's for the heaters and immersion heater the thing is the storage heaters are live through day also the immersion is on all time shes just got an extremely large bill , my question is does this mean in not on economy 7 because they should not be live during the day sorry it's longwinded thanks for any help

Switch the storage heaters off manually during the day whilst you wait for the supplier to come round. You might overheat them and trip the overheat - resetting can be easy or a pita depending on which model it is.

Do you have 2 seperate meters? Ive been to a couple of these jobs where theyve just been on the normal meters.

Also some suppliers will do a heatwise plan where they spread the cheap rate through the day. Much better for storage heaters, and easier to test as you dont have to be in at midnight.

Thanks for your replys guys the meter is geared up for e 7 I've spoken to supplier they are monitoring the next 7 day usage but today I went to her neighbours flat hers is the same she got told to put the switch down at bedtime for the water and turn it off when she gets up but that can't be right can it through e7 it should turn on automatically at 12 and go off at 7 should I phone supplier back to come and check meter many thanks

I know very little about the different E7 systems that are available, or the controls that are provided these days. But i was just wondering if this time clock in your mothers system had an over-ride switch, and if so, has someone inadvertently flicked it to the ON position??
Worth a check at the very least, it would explain the constant supply to the heaters....

Some new meters have a fifth terminal for a storage heater sub main (neutral tail just goes to the neutral block) and it all works without an external contactor. The current to the fifth tail is switched on and off in the meter and though the time this happens can vary it shouldn't be more than an hour early or late.

I would assume the meter is faulty
