Hi,

Just been watching Fully Charged latest YouTube video fact checking / myth busting electric cars & infrastructure.
Well worth watching..

Its just the advocates view. Agree many myths are just silly, like brakes and tyres but to say the grid can cope is a little naive, they may well build a power station or two or add a few hundred windfarms but that does nothing for local connections at 400/230V... Local DNOs do appear to be struggling.

As for public charging, well as of today, i have checked out my route from Derbyshire to Holyhead and i will need to charge around Chester way.... made two trips in the Diesel and at present if i make the journey in the Leaf, its 50/50 whether i will make it - They are building a large charging station at Chester services but still looks months away from being ready.

Just had a couple staying in one of my holiday cottages for the last two weeks, who turned up with a few months old Corsa EV, which they've been charging on my charge point.
They left for home yesterday, a day early, because they're picking up their new non EV car today and trading the Corsa in, citing the poor charging infrastructure.

For which they'll pay through the nose, due to penalties levied on manufacturers to ensure a certain percentage of all new cars sold are electric.
