You are worrying too much. He is the guy who is on site and can see everything. Watch what he does, and ask questions. If he doesn't want to reply then go elsewhere for your training.

Just one other question - is it actually you doing the job? No offence intended, but your questions come across a bit odd in their manner.

yeah but he’s going to supervise me just little bit knowledge before i do is great he can see i do things at home a iam keen to learn unlike some apprentices this site is great for stuff like that and i do appreciate all the support thanks mate

Apart from the fact that you are not allowed to interfere with the DNO's equipment, do you have the correct PPE for pulling a main fuse ?
As a MINIMUM you should be wearing : full face mask to protect your face against showers of molten metal droplets, long (covering your lower arms) insulating gloves, and suitably fire resistant/retardant clothing covering everything else. Is that overkill for just pulling a fuse ? Well for 99.99...% of cases - yes. But it's the 0.0..1% where the service head is old/faulty/poor design/whatever and it goes BANG that you are dealing with. It's no good thinking about putting on PPE after you've had a face full of molten copper, and widespread electrical burns.
And yes, 240V is more than enough to sustain a considerable arc until (hopefully) the 300A or larger fuses blow at the substation.
