Hi, im new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself.

I have run my own small company for a number of years, when work started to dry up i went sub contraction on large projects in london. I took an ajency position working for my local council as the technical officer. This is an office based role involving managing teams and budgets. I have since been offered the role on a permanent contract.

The role dosent pay as well as sub contracting but i know that i will never lose my job or be out of work. There are also a vast host of benafits associated with working for the council, ie holiday/sick pay, a fantastic penshion etc.

I miss being on the tools and dont enjoy my work as much as i did, but think that this is a stable position and better for the future.

is there much work out there for subbies and more to the point are they getting paid!!!!!

I know a lot of lads getting knocked all over at the moment.

Hope all goes well for you in what you choose. I can really comment on subbing down south, but if you council is like ours in the NW then I wouldnt like to say 'i will never lose my job or be out of work.'
Yet again, good luck mate.
