I want to install a cooler unit of Rittal make on one side of an enclosure of IP66 rating. I need to cut suitable holes to the enclosure to do this. What should I do to keep the IP rating of the whole assembly?

what are the holes for, specifically, cables?

Thanks for the reply. The holes are rectangular for air flow from the cooling unit. Also 6mm holes are required for fixing of the cooling unit to the enclosure. The enclosure is IP66 rated and the cooling unit is NEMA 4X rated. Thanks

Buy a ready made external vent kit specifically for the enclosure

But the customer needs an air conditioner to be attached to the enclosure. At the same time the IP66 status needs to be maintained

The enclosure I chose is Legrand make part no. 035231, stainless steel, and the cooler unit Rittal make wall mounted part no. 3303.104

A photo or two might help us to help you. It's hard to visualise a non-standard install!!!

Dear Des56, the event kit you suggest is for ventillation I suppose. IP66 is still maintained? How ever the customer needs an air conditioner to be attached to the enclosure. At the same time the IP66 status needs to be maintained

Dear HandySparks, thanks for the reply. I will check with the link
The customer specifies full IP66

Dear Guitarist, thanks. But I need to fit a cooling unit on the panel

I understand what you are trying to achieve, but unless you buy a unit designed for this, or else mount the whole assembly inside another enclosure with some kind of baffle/drain facility, then you cannot have a dust-tight box on the one hand along with ventilation on the other.

I've not looked closely at the details, but I think this is a refrigeration type unit, so the air drawn into the cooling unit never meets the air circulated in the enclosure. However, if you have a dusty enough environment, the external air circuit can block up; not easy to avoid this. Once you get into the detail of equipment like this, a simple IP rating isn't sufficient to describe the requirement.

Dear HandySparks
Thank you very much for your comment. The A/C equipment is also rated for NEMA 4X which is meant for dusty environment

IP 66 is dust tight, zero ingress of dust permitted, and protected against strong jets of water, limited ingress permitted. MAybe you try IP33 rating.
