Discuss Loft extension in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Guys, could I have your views on the existing scenario:-

TNS with 16mm supply tails. Sealed service fuse, so unable to confirm rating at time of writing.

Consumer's tails are 16mm to 60A switchfuse and 16mm to henley block. Then recently split by previous electrician to supply existing old CU with 16mm tails and a new board for loft circuits with 25mm tails & 16mm earthing conductor.

My question is:-

Would you have taken the opportunity to upgrade the consumer's tails between meter and switchfuse to 25mm? [Even if 16mm remains suitable for assessed additional load and the tails are in good condition for continued service].

Many thanks

just wonder why the previous spark has used 25mm. was it all he could nick from work at the time?

Some people make a habit of upgrading either because they think it's a good idea or because they think it's required, even when it isn't. Or it might be that was all he had on the van and why trek all the way to the wholesalers just for the sake of it. I find trying to second guess why someone else did something in a particular way is one of life's more futile pursuits.
