I have an outbuilding a fair distance from the house. In this outbuilding I just want to have some lights, a small music radio/clock, and a receptacle for very occasional use of a power tool (such as a circular saw).

The distance to the sub panel would require about 400 feet of wire to connect the main panel to the sub panel.

Below is my thought process. Let me know your thoughts:

150-A Main Panel with a 50-A 2-Pole Circuit Breaker with a 4 AWG pigtail into a Polaris Insulated Tap Connector, connecting the 4 AWG pigtail to 1 AWG XHHW-2.

~400 foot run of 1 AWG XHHW-2 underground in PVC conduit to the sub panel. This 2 inch PVC conduit contains four 1 AWG wires (3 conductors and a ground)

Sub panel will have a 30-A main breaker, again with a pigtail connecting 4 AWG to 1 AWG via a Polaris connector.

The subpanel then contains a 15-A breaker for some LED lights, and a 20-A breaker for a receptacle.

Thanks
