I'd never really considered going into PAT testing until this week when I was offered some very cheap (new and calibrated) PAT equipment, has anyone here gone the virtual learning route, if so how was it and whats the best way to move onto accreditation?

You've missed the 1st April by a long shot!
Do you really think anyone is going believe you can learn ISITEE in an online course?

This is why I'm asking the question, was kinda hoping there might be some constructive advice out there, I'm too busy at the mo to attend a course but I do get clients asking me about PAT. If there's a way of doing it in my own time then I'd consider it, if not will probably just sell the kit on.

Don't think you have to do a course if you are already an electrician.I certainly haven't and been doing pat testing for years.

Buy the ISITEE code of practice and read and learn the requirements for such inspection and testing.
This will get you on a long way to being able to safely and correctly assess electrical equipment.
If you do not have time for a course then you will not have time to do the tedious and mind numbing testing either so it may be better to get someone else to cover this side for you.

The course is generally about two days, or 5 days in the evenings; if you are feeling really confident after reading the COP then you could try the exam only (2hrs) and have a useful piece of paper saying C&G 2377 on it to "prove" you are competent.

Do it NOW!
You know it makes sense! :-)

You do need the course. That piece of paper could save your ---. A hotel burnt down not to long ago due to an appliance fault. ( they had been tested by an electrician) insurance company would not cover the damage due to the tester not holding relevant qualifications in PAT.
Any excuse.... Lol
