pat testing

would welcome any views please.we pat test on site and have not done the 2377/12 as company wont pay.concerned about the legal aspect of releasing equipment into service without any formal training if it causes harm.we are deemed as competent because we are up to 17th.i am not so sure and cant get the iet/jib health and safety to commit on this.any advice welcome.17th tutor advised to do the course as it could save a lot of tears.

If you are already pat testing I doubt if you will learn anything the test is like an mot for the car everything certified at time of testing only.

The actual exam is open book so you dont need to actually learn anything just be able to read. The book used for the exam is Code of Practice for in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment by the IEE ISBN 9780863418334
