so i hear the 1st ammendment is coming out in june or thereabouts and there is going to be a new (green) book.

so should i sell my red book now whilst it's still worth something? i see they are still fetching £35 on ebay...

well search on ebay for them, and down the left hand side click on completed listings and it shows you finished items and the price they sold for.

what i want to know though, is will the red book become useless? or can i amend it myself, staple some sheets in the back for example and fettle it with some marker pen?

Get it on ebay now, someone unaware of the impending green edition will buy it. If they don't know about bgb they're obviously not in the business.
Start at 99p and take what you get. Loads of changes in Amd 1 so you'll need it.

the full lot are changing.
bgb due in the summer, osg and gn1 and gn3 due in october time. the rest to follow.
mines on the bay this weekend as i have access to one anytime i need it. still got the 15th and 16th though :D

I had exactly the same thought on Friday when i went to ELEX 2011 at the Yorkshire showground!

At the EIT stand I asked if it will be obsolete in June and they said yes as there will be no updates available unless you have the digital copy.

Did anyone else hear the nobs from nic napit and elecsa doing their seminar on the new model forms for periodic s?

Got mine on E bay straight away!

Maybe this is why all the shops are trying to sell them of at a lower price. like amazon was £75 now £59, the prices will drop the nearer it gets.

We used to update our standards by adding any amendments into our copies. Sorry to go off on a tangent but do any of you guys use BS online?? As if you have a phone that accesses the internet you can get updates as soon as they are released. It maybe quite dear though so i'm not sure if its worth your while.

cheers
Ant

Hold on a min 3000gt ant, you have lost me, you started a fred about you wanting to wire SWA in to a standard plug top in your kitchen and out to your garden, for some decking lights and put another standard socket out let non ip rated for the conditions in your garden, and now you are trying to give advice about updates, if you know about regs why are you asking such things on other freds chap.

I sold mine on ebay about a month ago, got £36 for BRB and £15 for OSG

People starting courses still need to buy this edition.

The digital downloads are good value if thats your bag.... £140 for IET members for brb (including june update) GN 1-3, OSG, Electricians guide to building regs.
£280 for above but GN,2 1-8 and also Electrical Installation Design Guide Calculations for Electricians and Designers. If like me you fill in your certs on-site using a laptop the digital version of the brb is fantastic and the search function is pretty reliable.
