got a called today from the landlord saying smoke alarms keep going off

He's e petting me to do for free saying it MUST be covered by some form of guarentee

In my exeriance stuff like smoke alarms don't just stop working
i told him I'll go look at it but I'm expecting to find a smashed smoke detector

Would you charge?

confiscate the toaster and frying pan.

first of all when did youfit them if more than a year then he can whistle also whats changed that makes them a problem also if they are 2-3 years old does he know and you that when the battery should be changed because it will chirp away until it is plus he may think the chirping is an alarm.

PS I fit Aico's cos they slide in and out plus they have a good base and I carry a spare and I should not say this but I have not changed one yet he said touching a lot of wood

I too fit Aico. Extremely reliable.

Under what circumstances do they "keep going off"??

Did you fit an ionisation outside the kitchen (change it to an optical if you did)?

If you fitted the smoke alarms six months ago and they are now faulty then I would be replacing them for free and getting my money back from the supplier.

However I think it is much more likely that the smoke alarm keeps going off because it is detecting smoke!
Or as oldtimer says flat battery; is it the same battery that you fitted!!

If the "fault" is that they are burning the chips or they have swapped the battery, then it is a fully charged job.

or a heat rise.

Also fit Aico's, never had an issue with them nor do I expect to have one!
